I want to make a quick post about the damn compass in CS4 that allows you to rotate your image on the fly with CS4′s new OpenGL rendering (notice how it takes CS4 a couple seconds to rotate your canvas but the compass is instant? yeah? yeah?) Well it was a great feature that was misunderstood and taken as being the ‘damn annoying compass that keeps rotating my picture and I can’t get it perfectly straight again!’ Well I love it, use it for when I want to get my fine details in there on my wacom. It’s simply much easier to draw in certain directions with sensitivity on so I rotate the canvas but whenever I couldn’t get my picture back to being completely straight, It’d be so aggravating and stopped me from using it. But now I’ve come back to it with this solution: ESC.

The damn esc button, should have known, it never had any shortcuts in photoshop especially for being such a strong word like ESCAPE! But not it serves its beautiful purpose of one thing and one thing only, escaping the dreaded impossible-to-make-straight consequence of the compass rotation. Have fun with this.
